Chromatin Tan, Feng [1], Peng, Zhaohua [2]. Chromatin Proteomics of Rice (Oryza sativa) Suspension Cell. Chromatin and chromosomes store genomic information, controls genetic material distribution among daughter cells, and plays a critical role in the establishment and maintenance of stable spatial and temporal gene expression profiles during development in higher organisms. Although the chromatin structure and its role in epigenetic regulation have been extensively studied, it is still unknown how many non-histone proteins are associated chromatin and what are their role. To answer these questions, we purified chromatin from rice (Oryza sativa) and examined chromatin associated proteins using proteome approaches. 182 proteins were identified using 2-dimensional gel based method and 108 proteins were identified using Multidimensional Protein Identification Technology (MudPIT) approach. The majority of the proteins are known chromatin associated proteins while some unexpected proteins are identified. In addition, protein posttranslational modifications were also identified using mass spectrometry analyses. Log in to add this item to your schedule
