Biocontrol evaluation of Wheat Take-all Disease by Using Trichoderma Effective Isolates.

Wheat take-all disease, caused by Gaeumannomyces graminis var tritici, has been observed in different areas of Iran in recent years. Current biocontrol studies have confirmed the effectiveness of the Trichoderma species against many fungal phytopathogens. In this study, biocontrol effects of Trichoderma isolates were evaluated against Take-all pathogen. Five isolates T. virens T65, T. virens T90, T. virens T96, T. virens T122 and T. koningii T77 were used as isolates that were screened by antifungal tests against take-all pathogen in invitro. Three isolates T. koningiopsis T149, T. brevicompactum T146 and T. viridecens T150 were used as random selection. Also, Trichodermin B and Subtilin as commercial products of biocontrol were used. In dual culture test, five isolates T65, T90, T96, T122 and T77 covered and overgrowth colony of causal agent. This is followed with hyphal warp (mycoparasitism) for isolates T65, T96 and T90. in culture filtrate and volatile metabolite tests, all of isolates differently reduced mycelial growth of take-all pathogen. In greenhouse test, Treats T96, T65, mixture of isolates and Trichodermin B, with more biocontrol effectiveness than other treats, reduced 26- 66 percent disease severity, increased 27-63 percent dry weight of shoots and 23-58 percent dry weight of roots. Reduction of disease was further in seed coating test than soil treatment. Also, Isolates T90, T96, T122, T146, T149, mixture of isolates and two commercial agents enhanced mean plant growth.
