Genetic diversity in population and intraspecific of Ilex cornuta Lindley et Paxton.

Analysis of genetic variation in Chinese Holly (Ilex cornuta Lindley et Paxton) were examined through nucleotide sequence of ITS regions on 80 individuals from Korea and China. As a result, the length of ITS 1 ranged from 253 to 259bp. The 5.8S was 159bp and ITS2 was observed by 231bp. A total of 12 different ITS types were detected from 65 individuals. Each types shown difference from minimum 1bp to maximum 6bp. Four individuals that is collected at Daejeong-eup in Jeju-do were observed in all other types, whereas all of the individuals that is collected at Naju-si and Muan-gun in Jeollanam-do showed same types. So variety of ITS regions appeared Jeju-do population higher than land population. These ITS sequence analyses suggest that there is a high sequence diversity from Ilex cornuta Lindley et Paxton and will supply basic data of habitat conservation through analysis that using ITS data.
