Integrating Plant Systematics Barkworth, Mary [1], Murrell, Zack E. [2]. Integrating Plant Systematics. Plant systematics encompasses a wide range of approaches, from field and herbarium studies to molecular studies of individual genes. Although many systematists work in projects that span the range of these approaches, there is a need to reinforce the importance of integrating information from multiple disciplines to the development of all aspects of plant systematics. There is also a need to increase public appreciation of plant diversity and understanding of systematics. This symposium is designed to develop a path that will promote both integration of the diverse activities in which plant systematists are involved, extend the reach of plant systematics, and increase the number and diversity of individuals engaged in the plant systematics.
