Profiling of Tissue- and Stage-Specific Transcriptome with Rice 300K Microarray. The development of eukaryotic organisms shows the selective expression of genes as they pass through developmental stages. To manifest organ- and tissue-specific gene expression in transcriptome level in rice, microarray experiments were performed with RNA sources from various tissues such as seed, root, leaf, flower and callus. Analysis of expression ratios shows the tissue- and stage-specific expression patterns of many hundreds of genes. Among them, many transcription factors and proteins are related to signal transduction. Although a large number of proteins are unknown function, it is noticeable that many genes for energy expression and conversion were related to root and heading stage while specific genes for defense mechanisms are transcribed in flowers. Regenerating callus are specified by genes of signal transduction mechanisms and leaf is specified by posttranscriptional modification, protein turnover and chaperones. This 300K rice microarray analysis showed gene expression patterns and the relationship among different tissues and stages efficiently. Log in to add this item to your schedule
